I don’t think anyone had as profound an impact on me professionally as Barb Page. During several years of working side-by-side with her at the late, great Albuquerque Tribune, Barb was my friend, my mentor, my confidante. I could always count on Barb for sage advice and wisdom. Not to mention a healthy dose of the absurd.

As of today (8/4), we’re up to $790 in donations for Barb. With the match that Lara and I pledged, we have a total of $1,580. Great work, folks. I’m going to keep this open for another week or two. I think it’s really amazing that three of the people who donated don’t even know Barb personally. Let the good karma flow …
Last call for donations: We have collected a total of $2,480 thus far (8/29) to help Barb. I’d like to wrap this up and get the money to Barb. Two points:
1. If you intend to donate or sent a check and didn’t get a confirmation from me that it was received, please let me know ASAP.
2. How should we get this to Barb? I don’t think she’ll accept a check. I was hoping to send the money to someone in Albuquerque who could use it to its best effect, up to and including handing her cash if she’ll accept it and that will best help her. Suggestions?
