We’re moving to D.C.

I’ve accepted a job as chief digital officer at Clarity Media Group, which owns the San Francisco Examiner, Washington Examiner and The Weekly Standard.

Several factors entered into my decision, but first and foremost was that I got to spend a lot of time as a consultant with the Clarity folks, and I like them. They’re good people and solid operators. I also like their entrepreneurial zeal.

I start on Jan. 1, and Lara and I will be moving to Washington, D.C.

Here’s a link to the press release that appeared on the Washington Examiner site.

Beautiful music

Just stumbled across A Meeting by the River by Ry Cooder and U. M Bhatt. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve encountered since Michael Blake’s Elevated. Definitely worth a listen.

Not claiming either of these works is new. Just new to me. And worth a listen if you’re looking for something different, ethereal and sublime. Or you could just dial up UFO’s Strangers in the Night on your iPod and marvel at Michael Schenker’s supreme ability to shred guitar strings. I’ve been bouncing from Cooder to Blake to Schenker during my air travels for the past few days to good effect. Helps me dull the urge to kill the screaming infant in seat 22B …

YinzCam … it’s a ‘Burgh thing

Pittsburgh startup YinzCam is getting a little love from Mashable. Very cool idea. It gives sports fans the ability to see different angles/replays on their mobile devices while they’re at the game.

The interesting stat is that when they first rolled it out at a Penguins game at the beginning of the 2009 season, 10 fans tuned in. More recently, 55% of the fans at the game were tuned in.

I think they’re on to something …
