This photo was taken from The Steel Workers, written by John A Fitch in about 1909. It's part of a series of books called the Pittsburgh survey that examines life in a steel town around the turn of the century. This is one of the few photos of Slavic workers in the book. It focuses mostly on the "Americans," the Irish and Scottish workers who were in skilled positions.
