Watch my mini video to see a small (literally and figuratively) piece of my life.

Be aware, this requires sound.
Sorry mac users, you'll probably have to download some software.

(I'm posting this on behalf of Ellen Cox. Her original post was rejected because my spam filter was blocking the blogspot.com domain, probably from some overzealous filtering on my part ... That's fixed now.)

I put some flickr slideshows on there which were pretty cool, but my favorite
thing on this site was the Quicktime videos. They are extremely simple. However,
the victory in this was learning to post those videos online. It took me a heavy
amount of time to figure out how to upload and host them. I thought i had found
some html coding so they would actually play in the blog, but the instructions
were out of date and for an older version of Blogger. So at the moment there are
just links to the videos.

This was a fun project to work on.

Thanks,

Ellen Cox

I had a little difficulty with my first idea for this assignment. I wanted to work with a video project however my limited amount of knowledge in terms of video files proceeded me. With the huge obstacles I continued to run into, I decided to hold off the video, and change my project to a picture slideshow. Even though I wasn't able to showcase my video project, I am aware of the unlimited possibilies I have when it comes to new forms of journalism. I hope that I will be able to acquire the knowledge to share a successful video clip in the near future. Unfortunately, with numerous time constraints, I knew I could not spend any more time on the project.

I altered my project slightly in terms of what I wanted to illustrate. The focus of my video was more of a commentary on the lives of college students. With my picture slideshow, I decided to make it more personal.

As a journalist, we are taught to constantly observe the world around us. We shouldn't only listen, but look. While a person can say they care deeply for the environment until they are blue in the face, but if they're driving around in a H3 while throwing styrofoam cups out the driver side window you can't portray them as a model citizen. I think a person's bedroom speaks volumes about them. After living in the dorms for two years, it was always hard to express my personality through decorations while competing with the interests of a roommate. This year, I have my own room where I spend a lot of time. Upon entering my room, you definitely get a clear idea of what I like and who I am as a person.
